Big Changes!
« on: September 04, 2012, 08:33:46 PM »
Huzzah!  After almost two years of (sometimes intense) deliberation, the MBVV Steering Committee has completed work on the club bylaws!  The bylaws are the governing instrument that define how the club will operate from this point forward.  This is a major accomplishment, so congratulations to everyone who worked on the document!

You can read the complete text here. . .

. . . but it's long and boring, so here's what you really need to know:

1.  There are now two (2) membership categories - don't panic!  Here's how it will work:  everyone who is currently in the club automatically becomes an Associate Member.  This category is *identical* to the membership you presently enjoy (no dues, no responsibilities, no vote).  The second, *entirely optional* category is Active MemberActive Members pay dues, must serve the club in a leadership role (either as an elected officer or as a committee member) and may vote and stand for office.   If you like the casual, drop-in style the club has had until now, Associate Membership is for you!  If you want to take a larger role in running the club and helping it to grow, hello Active Member!

2.  The first election for club officers will be held at the Annual Business Meeting on Saturday, November 3.  That means if you want to run for office you have roughly six weeks to pay your annual dues and become an Active Member so that your name can be added to the ballot of eligible candidates.

I am working right now to re-jigger the website for Paypal, so that dues may be paid online.  There are a couple of issues with getting that up and running, so in the meantime if you want to set up an Active Membership,  write a check to MBVV and leave it with any member of the Steering Committee.
Cheers,

Randy
