Title: Cruisin' to Colby Monday, May 26 (Everett)
Post by: Grumblecakes on May 04, 2014, 07:48:18 PM
We are thinking this event might serve for the June get-together, even though it's a few days early.  Robert, Chris and I went down last year, and had a great time, although it did rain all day.  Plan ahead, and let's see everyone down there!

I am planning to go to the VW Alley show part, skipping the cruise though.

The show is great and access to park in VW Alley is great, you bypass all other traffic.

Also, the variety of cars besides VWs is Great and many stores and restaurants are still open on the streets the show cars park on so it's a great show to take your wife along as she can go buy soaps or antiques  ;D.

The cruise is a slow moving so so event.
Quick tip, don't wait for them to escort you to the cruise street in one of the small groups, just head there yourself if you have registered.

But the Show day is well worth the drive if you have any interest in other older cars.

I don't remember what we got there last year. But, I would like to be there about 45 minutes before it opens to the public. The show starts at 8am. That would put us there somewhere between 7am to 7:30am. It's takes about 20 minutes to get there from the Stanwood/Camano on/off ramps. So needless to say, It's gonna be a early morning.

Did you guys want to meet up with me at the on ramp.?

Bellingham contingent will be departing from Sunset Costcutter at 6am.  Chris is bringing the bus, Andrea and I will be riding down with him.  That puts us at the Stanwood/Camano exit at around 6:35.  Robert, does that work for you?

Sounds good to me.  I'll perch myself on the on-ramp just before 6:30 and wait for ya-all.

Sorry guys, I'm gonna be out for this one - I'm working on a project with a deadline, and it's kind of kicking my ass.  I really need the day on Monday to get it squared away.   :-\

It was good. Chris and I got there around 7:20am. We made it there without incident. Chris's bus made it there with all it's engine parts still intacked. ;D We got parked went up a couple of blocks and had breakfast.  The show was huge, VW Alley was full. One more VW and we would have been in over flow status. As soon as the clock hit 12:00 Chris and I hit up one of the bars that had sidewalk seating setup and had a couple of beers. We stayed till 3pm then we took off.

I think there was 59 VW's there, at least half were buses.  It was the biggest turnout of any brand.
